Arts, emotional health and wellbeing can play a central role in service delivery for frontline workers and foster carers. This is an introduction into Art Therapy and how art can be used in building relationships and can help with our understanding of children who have experienced trauma, in terms of their thinking process and behaviour. Participants will have the opportunity to use art materials to explore the processes involved in Art Therapy. Misconceptions regarding Art Therapy will be discussed, including the fact that you do not need to be 'good' at drawing to take part in this experience, so do not worry about your ability in this respect. Creativity, art and play can all be ways of developing emotional literacy.
To raise awareness of art therapy and how it can be used in understanding children.
• Increased understanding of the process of art therapy.
• Raised awareness of how the process of art making can help emotional development and neurological implications will be considered.
• Increased understanding of how the use of art can build relationships and increase a sense of attunement when used together by adult and child.
