Naturally Connected -
Network for Mental Wellbeing

Friday 28 April 2017

9.30am - 3.30pm

Playfield Institute

“We all have one thing in common: we are part of the natural world. No matter what our nationality is, what we do for a living, what our interests or beliefs are, we share the same natural home”

Naturally Connected is a networking opportunity for those who are interested in nature focused mental wellbeing work.
There are many organisations and individuals across Scotland who are already engaged in work that connects nature with wellbeing and mental health. The aim of this event is to bring these people together to create a network that facilitates the sharing of experiences and knowledge, as well as supporting future collaborative work.
We will look at the evidence for using nature connection to improve mental wellbeing, share good practice and successes, identify needs and explore nature based activities. Participants will have the opportunity to develop connections with other individuals and organisations interested in promoting nature connections and mental wellbeing, with the view of developing this work together in future.

There is growing evidence in the scientific literature that connecting with nature is good for our mental health and wellbeing. In addition, using nature in combination with other therapies has been shown to enhance their effectiveness in improving mental health. Nature connection work is also beneficial for workers as demonstrated by reducing stress and burnout in those working in caring professions.
