Solution Focused Techniques (SFT) is a set of techniques, skills and assumptions about how to help people towards positive change. It is applicable to counselling type work with individuals, couples and families. As the title implies, it places the focus on solutions rather than problems, on strengths and resources as opposed to disorder and disability. It attempts to identify what works and amplify this. Best of all, it is an easily learned way of getting patients/clients who are stuck moving again towards positive change. Participants will have an opportunity to observe and practise the main techniques employed by SFT.
